PwC has signed an alliance with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and artificial intelligence legal experts Harvey, to develop AI research tools for tax, legal and HR services
The announcement is a significant step beyond the exclusivity agreement PwC made with Harvey earlier this year and supports PwC’s adoption of ChatGPT Enterprise for general use within PwC UK.
‘In the first instance, staff will use artificial intelligence (AI) to review documents, policy, legislation, general research and provide greater insights to our clients on a whole array of areas,’ a PwC spokesperson told Accountancy Daily.
PwC has already started exploring the additional services and insights that the AI model can provide to tax compliance clients - this includes global tax concierge services. Tax return production automation is being considered as part of a wider technology strategy augmented by AI. This will lead to use of chatbots to deal with client enquiries but not offer advice.
