The former group finance director of collapsed outsourcer Carillion plc, Richard Adam, has been disqualified from working as a director for 12 and a half years
Adam is the second senior Carillion finance team member to be banned from holding any directorships following the disqualification of former finance director Zafar Khan last month.
Carillion, a major UK public sector supplier, collapsed in January 2018 with the loss of thousands of jobs, and a debt pile of £7bn. It had wrongfully declared a pre-tax profit of £146.7m in its year end accounts for 2017, when it had actually lost £61.7m, showing a misstatement of £208.5m.
Adam was group FD between 2007 and 2016, and caused Carillion plc to rely on false and misleading financial information for the preparation of its consolidated financial statements for 2015 and 2016 and revenue and cost reporting related to the performance of Carillion’s major construction contracts.
