SME clients delay investment decisions, warn accountants

Accountants are reporting a slowdown in long-term investment decisions from clients, particularly in the SME market due to the weak economic outlook

The UK showed subdued quarterly growth of just 0.3% with a sharp decline of confidence in the key markets of North America and western Europe, which created a knock-on effect to the wider UK economy, according to the latest Global Economic Conditions Survey (GECS) from ACCA and IMA.

Coupled with high inflation outpacing real wage earnings and a housing market grinding to a halt, UK finance professionals face a difficult task of planning ahead for 2024 under these conditions.
