Fears over the future of high street chain Store Twenty One, and of its 1,000 employees are mounting, as trading from its website is stopped.

The fashion retailer, which stocked an exclusive range of lingerie designed by former glamour model Katie Price, has already had visits to several of its more than 200 UK stores by debt collectors, amid concerns that it is struggling to keep up with rent payments.

The outlook for the chain looked bleak when in its accounts for the last financial year saw it report losses of nearly £20m and Store Twenty One's website currently informs visitors that its spring collection, along with all its other clothing lines are "available now only in your local store".

Formerly known as QS, the West Midlands-based company began life as a manufacturer supplying clothing to Marks & Spencers, and was bought by textile business Grabal Alok in 2007.

The company underwent an 'aggressive store opening' exercise in 2012, with the intention of opening 79 stores by the end of the year and has over 850,000sq ft of sales floor space.
