As the largest independent practice to join a national group in 2025, the deal sees 35 partners and nearly 400 BHP staff join Sumer under the group’s shared ownership model.

The BHP leadership team, including joint managing partners Lisa Leighton and Hamish Morrison, will remain in place to continue delivering the recently set out five-year strategy. Leighton and Morrison become joint CEOs of the business.

By joining Sumer, BHP gains a stronger platform to deliver its £100m ambition while preserving its 150-year-old heritage and strong client base across Yorkshire.

BHP reported revenue for £29.2m in 2024 and is ranked 44th in the Top 75 Firms survey, with its own ambitions to grow the business three-fold within five years.
