The scam messages targeting Apple devices claim the recipient is owed a tax refund but the messages cannot be blocked as they are sent from business accounts. However, HMRC are currently investigating the new wave of iPhone scams.

Additionally, the numbers cannot be reported to the Ofcom anti-spam designated number. The users are also being directed to a fake link with ‘Gov’ and ‘HMRC’ within.

It is known that scammers buy Apple accounts, or steal the accounts from legitimate people and businesses to launch these cyber attacks.
