The merger, which provides TC with two further offices in Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea, consolidates its position as one of the area’s largest accountancy firms and is the latest in its strategy of expansion across London, the south east, the Midlands and south west.

TC is ranked at number 57 in the Accountancy Top 75 league table of firms, up from number 70 the previous year and posting a 56% hike in fee income to £13m up from £8.2m in financial year 2017-18.

Alan Brown, managing director at Jamesons, said: ‘Jamesons was established in 1936, and for some time has been the largest independent firm in the Tendring area. The merger with TC enables us to continue to drive our business forward and expand our services.’

TC’s managing partner, Richard Keyes, said: ‘Jamesons has a well-established reputation locally and further afield, and further strengthens our capability across a number of core areas.

‘This complements our strategy of seeking like-minded firms with which to merge and increases our presence across the south east and neighbouring counties.’ 

TC has made a number of recent mergers and acquisitions include charity and independent education accounting specialist Russell New and Keynsham-based accountants Eden Wood in 2018, and Guildford based tax specialist Daymar in late 2017.

Its rebranding heralded a move towards the creation of a full service professional firm with the establishment of new financial planning, legal and HR departments, which will support TC’s range of accounting and taxation services.

TC Group was set up in 1982 and has 11 UK offices in London, Croydon, Henley, Oxford, Farnham, Portsmouth, Brighton, Southampton, Bournemouth, the East Midlands and Bristol. It also provides advice and support on cross-border taxation.
