Tips on migrating to cloud accounting software

Moving traditional tax software to the cloud improves productivity but forward planning and data control is critical, explains Russell Gammon, chief solutions officer at Tax Systems

Only three years ago, businesses showed a clear preference for desktop applications for tax, considering their cloud-based counterparts too risky and unreliable. Approximately two years ago, the balance of software application installations was around 60:40 in favour of desktop.

In 2022, with Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT already in force, organisations are flocking to the cloud to elevate tax processes and remain compliant. In fact, by 2024, those numbers are expected to reverse as cloud solutions become a no-brainer for business.
