The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and US Department of the Treasury face a civil complaint from president Donald Trump and two of his sons claiming $10bn (£7.2bn) in damages, with $1000 for every media report published.

The complaint was filed on 29 January in the US District Court in Miami, seeking damages from the IRS and US Treasury Department for leaks of tax documents by a temporary contractor working for the tax office. The president is the lead plaintiff, along with Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization LLC.
