Sign up for our webinar on tips and advice for dealing with HMRC R&D enquiries on 25 June
Our tax expert Mark Doodney will be hosting the webinar on Tuesday 25 June at 2pm.
The webinar will cover the current HMRC enquiry process focusing on the volume compliance approach - process, pitfalls, workarounds and penalties (SME scheme) and research and development (R&D) tax relief.
Companies that work on innovative projects in science and technology may be able to claim corporation tax relief if their project meets the definition of R&D for tax purposes. But HMRC is taking a very assertive position on claims so there is a high risk that an HMRC enquiry could be opened into recent and historic claims.
This webinar will cover:
- HMRC compliance process with an emphasis on the current ‘volume compliance’
- enquiry process review
- opening and information notices
- review of common themes in HMRC claim rejections with a focus on competent professionals and record keeping
- project evaluation and enquiry escalation routes
- discovery assessments
- penalties and other issues
