New rules on cross border inheritance came into effect last year and while the intention is to simplify the current situation, it is still a complex area. Here are the key points you need to be aware of.

Will the new rules affect me?

If you have links with any of the EU member states listed at the end of this article, or may have in the future, the EU Succession Regulation may change what happens to your estate on death. It may be advisable to amend your English and foreign will, or make a will if you don't already have one. Previous advice you may have taken could now no longer be accurate.
