Rob Cross, 34, the former world darts champion, has been banned from acting as a director by the Insolvency Service for five years after his company failed to pay £465,403 in tax.

The darts player won the PDC World Darts Championship in 2018, as well as five World Series of Darts titles as the director of Rob Cross Darts. His personal services company, Rob Cross Darts Ltd, was used for the 34-year-old’s winnings.

The prize for winning the 2018 World Darts Championship was £400,000, and over his career Cross has won £2,980,850.

So far this year Cross has won over £100,000 from various tournaments, including £65,000 for coming sixth at the darts’ Premier League in Belfast, £4,000 at the German Darts Grand Prix, £15,000 from making it to the last 64 of the PDC World Darts Championship, and £30,000 from the Dutch Darts Masters as well as winnings from several more competitions.
