ACCA identifies changing career options for accountants

As sustainability and green credentials becomes more important for businesses, a report on sustainability by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) predicts that traditional career routes for accountants are changing

In its latest research, Professional accountants at the heart of sustainable organisations, ACCA state that accountants should be at the heart of sustainability within the businesses and the finance team going forward.

Using research conducted over two years including a global survey of over 2,000 finance professionals and stakeholders, ACCA states that it has identified four new career zones that will help play a key role in helping organisations create, protect and report ‘sustainable value’.

The report highlights five ‘broad drivers’ of change that will impact organisations and the role of professional accountants of the future, from changes in the global economy, environment, technology and society, to the workforce.
