Accountancy readers give us their views

Congratulations to Abraham Braun, accounts and audit manager at Pinnick Lewis LLP, who won the Accountancy survey draw for an iPad Air.

Braun is a regular reader of Accountancy and was delighted to win the draw. He said: 'I am still smiling despite being incredibly busy at work today!

'Accountancy keeps me updated with key changes in tax, accounting and audit legislation, and I feel it always has something interesting, varied and relevant to offer its readers in the profession,' he added.

Accounting and taxation regulatory news is most important, while business and personal taxation, along with compliance issues, top their tax concerns.

With major changes to accounting standards coming into effect by 1 January 2015, two thirds of respondents said that FRS 102 and the replacement for UK GAAP was a priority area, while nearly half (48%) of respondents cited IFRS as a major concern.

On the audit front, keeping up to speed with auditing standards is the priority for 60%, closely followed by corporate governance with half of respondents stating that this was the most important issue.

One of the key findings in the survey was that accountants still value a mix of online and print to keep up with their technical reading with 75% stating that they do like to do their technical reading online and in print, while 65% keep up their CPD with online learning.

Four in ten respondents use social media for business, and for them LinkedIn was by far the most popular social media tool with 89% using the networking site for business purposes. Meantime, nearly half use Twitter at work with 49% using the micro blogging site for business purposes.
