A report by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) titled ‘Filing The Gap,’ has found a growing concern across businesses that an accounting and finance skills shortage is holding back productivity, innovation, and growth.

To address this gap the report urged the government to clarify what types of courses in accounting and finance will be eligible via the new growth and skills levy.

The government overhauled apprenticeship funding for trainees over 21 in a move designed to shift spending towards healthcare and construction.

This move that will hit the accountancy profession hard when trainees will no longer be able to access funding for certain courses.
