Advertised salaries in the accountancy and finance sector rose by 3.3% last year, faster than the national average of 2.3%, according to data from Reed Accountancy & Finance which also shows that the number of jobs posted for the sector increased by 7%
The biggest increase was in advertised roles for accounts payable managers, which have experienced a 9% hike in salary since last year. This was followed by a 4% increase for both accounts receivable managers and payroll managers and a 6% jump for accounts receivable assistants. Financial services workers in East Midlands have felt the most benefit with the biggest overall salary rise of 3.9%.
Rob Russell, director of Reed Finance, said: ‘The accountancy and finance sector contributes an estimated £176bn to the UK economy each year, and, as it continues to grow, companies want to recruit the best talent to do the highest quality work. As a result, hiring managers are asking their boards to commit more money towards recruitment of new staff, and that is reflected in the advertised salaries.
‘What this data shows is that, during 2018, those companies which are struggling to attract the right talent will need be ready to increase the salaries they offer.’
