ATT members will be spending the afternoon of Wednesday 17 June conducting a tour of the house, made famous in the Sharkey v Wernher case concerning the appropriate accounting treatment for horses bred in Lady Zia Wernher’s stud farm and subsequently transferred to her racing stables.

A House of Lords ruling determined that  whenever a trader takes an item of trading stock for personal use, the trader is required – for tax purposes at least – to account for the profit that would have been made had the stock been sold in the normal course of business.

ATT’s silver anniversary celebrations during the course of the afternoon will also feature a prize giving ceremony, an address by ATT president Natalie Miller, and a lecture by Keith Gordon, a barrister practising from Atlas Tax Chambers. Gordon will be examining recent tax cases relevant to individuals and one man businesses.
