Baker Tilly restructures North East offices

Baker Tilly has restructured of the firm’s regional offices following last year’s acquisition of RSM Tenon, creating a new single North East practice which will more than double the size of the firm’s business in the region

‘Six months ago, Baker Tilly’s purchase of RSM Tenon more than doubled the size of our business in the North East, adding strong credentials in restructuring and recovery and corporate finance to our existing strengths in tax, accountancy, audit and business consultancy services to our core market of SMEs and owner managed businesses.

Steve Railton, who has been a partner with Baker Tilly since 2002, will head up a combined regional practice of ten partners and 140 staff which will continue to operate in both Newcastle and Sunderland.

The single North East practice brings together the former RSM Tenon office in Ferryboat Lane in Sunderland and Baker Tilly’s office at St. James’ Gate in Newcastle.

Railton, newly appointed managing partner for Baker Tilly North East, said: ‘Given the geographic proximity of our offices in Sunderland and Newcastle, we have decided to operate and manage them as a single regional practice having a combined turnover in excess of £10m.

'This will allow us to present a consistent and compelling proposition to our clients and intermediaries across the region and ensure that we are offering them the full complement of our available services.’
