Fresh from his role in the ‘Gone Girl’ blockbuster, Hollywood star Ben Affleck has begun filming for his latest project, a film in which he stars as an accountant who moonlights as an assassin
The thriller, named ‘The Accountant’, features Affleck as a mild-mannered and socially awkward accountant who is called in to audit a Silicon Valley robotics company when a woman working in accounts notices anomalies.
The female lead is played by Anna Kendrick , star of ‘Into the Woods’, while John Lithgow, most recently seen in space film ‘Interstellar’ is Lamar Black, a ‘tech magnate’ and owner of the company.
After identifying serious accounting irregularities, Affleck’s character receives death threats and is forced on the run with the bookkeeper.
For plot reasons, he is required to go over to the dark side and is trained in the appropriate skills by a Mafia accountant mentor played by Jeffrey Tambor, the star of award winning Amazon series, Transparent, in which he is a transgender, divorced, Jewish father-turned-mother of three.
Jon Bernthal, from zombie tv show ‘The Walking Dead’, is cast as a mercenary and one of the Affleck character’s opponents, and JK Simmons, who has just received an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor for his work as a tyrannical drumming teacher in the movie Whiplash, also stars.
The Accountant is in production now, with filming taking place in Atlanta in the US, but a release date has not yet been announced.
