Bonus scheme structured as tax avoidance

HMRC has won a landmark ruling in a long-running case over the use of a Growth Securities Ownership Plan (GSOP) which the tax authority argued was a tax avoidance scheme

The Upper Tribunal has ruled in favour of HMRC, finding that use of the scheme was clearly for the avoidance of tax on employment related payments, in this case related to bonuses.
