Anopkumar Maudhoo, 46, from Wapping, has been jailed at Southwark Crown Court for 10 years after pleading guilty to selling homes and land he did not own.

Maudhoo used several aliases to conduct the conveyancing fraud that the Eastern Regional Organised Crime Unit Network (ERSOU) has said was ‘large scale’.

He sold plots of land and buildings to property developers explaining to them they were repossessed properties, but the genuine owners of the properties were completely unaware of Maudhoo’s actions.

In total Maudhoo pleaded guilty to 31 charges of fraud while 45 more offences of a similar nature were ‘taken into consideration’.

Maudhoo was arrested in September 2024 by the ERSOU after following up on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s initial investigation.
