Duff & Phelps completes Burdens sale

Administrators from Duff & Phelps have completed the sale of the final three depots of WTB Trading Ltd (formerly Burdens Ltd), a specialist civil engineering supplier.

The Redruth, Penrith and Sittingbourne depots were sold to Civils Store Ltd who acquired the business assets (stock and chattels) of the remaining depots.

WTB Trading Ltd is the main trading arm of the Burdens Group. In addition to this appointment in November 2012, the administrators were also appointed over WTB Group Ltd, W.T. Burden Ltd, WTB investments (No:1) Ltd, and WTB Holdings Ltd.

Burdens specialised in the utilities, infrastructure and construction sectors, supplying a diverse and comprehensive range of civil engineering products and services. The group had a turnover of over £400m and more than 750 employees in 38 branches throughout the UK.

Joint administrator Philip Duffy, a managing director at Duff & Phelps, said: 'The Burdens brand is well known and affiliated with quality with a strong established client base. This has proved to be attractive for a number of buyers, ensuring the successful sale of the majority of depots within the portfolio.'
