Heard at an employment tribunal in central London, trainee accountant Jay Patel won his claim against his former employer Raymond & Sons, after his boss Lucy Raymond-Williams stated that she had ‘taken the wrong decision in giving a dyslexic person the job’ and is set to receive compensation.

Patel had been diagnosed with dyslexia in 2011 when he was in sixth form, it took him four years to complete his A level studies and he then went on to study Accounting and Management at University where he obtained a first-class honours degree. He also gained part exemptions to Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications.
