Ex KPMG partner Vials takes up audit role at Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton has hired Andrew Vials as the firm’s head of national assurance services (NAS) and he will lead a team of 35 people providing technical support and advice to all service lines

Vials was previously head of KPMG’s financial reporting technical team for 10 years, and is well known to Accountancy Live readers as a columnist and expert commentator.

Mark Cardiff, GT’s head of audit, said: ‘Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience both in the technical field, including six years as a member of the IASB's IFRS Interpretations Committee, and from his previous role as a client facing partner in the Financial Services industry.’

Vials said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Grant Thornton at a time when significant changes in reporting and regulation bring both many opportunities and challenges.’
