Finance Bill 2019–20: draft legislation at a glance

With all consultations relating to Finance Bill 2019-20 now closed for comment, Sarah Arnold, tax writer at Croner-i, gives a rundown of the key tax changes proposed and how they will affect UK businesses and individual taxpayers when enacted after the Budget this autumn 

On 11 July 2019, the government published draft legislation for inclusion in Finance Bill 2019–20. The draft legislation delivers, in part measures that have been subject to earlier consultation, but also some technical changes to ensure the legislation works as intended and to ensure that UK legislation is compliant with EU law. An overview of each measure is set out below.

Publication of draft legislation for the Finance Bill ahead of its introduction to parliament is part of the Government’s tax policy making process.
