Forex trader guilty of £70m Ponzi scheme

A foreign exchange boss responsible for a Ponzi-style investment scam valued at over £70m has been found guilty following a seven-week trial

Anthony Constantinou was found guilty of seven counts of fraud by false representation, fraudulent trading and money laundering at Southwark Crown Court on 22 May 2023.

Constantinou, who denied wrongdoing, attended the start of the trial in March but by mid-April, he failed to turn up. An international arrest warrant has been issued to locate him. He is due to be sentenced on 9 June 2023.

Constantinou, who ran Capital World Markets (CWM), offered investors remarkable returns of 60% per year on allegedly risk-free foreign exchange (FX) markets.
