The proposed amendments reflect, in particular, the experience of the FRC’s Enforcement Division as well as earlier informal feedback received from stakeholders. They are intended to ensure a clearer, more effective and tougher enforcement process from January 2022.

The regulator stressed that they would continue to publish decision notices relating to audit investigations in the interests of transparency and to improve understanding of the process and the reasons for any sanctions and misconduct.
