The prosecution has delivered its closing speech to a jury at Southwark Crown Court, in the £2m trial of tax barrister Robert Venables KC.

Over the last six weeks the London court has heard from the prosecution, defence, witnesses, and even Venables himself.

Now, it is the final turn of both the prosecution and defence barristers to speak to the jury, with the prosecution going first.

Summing up the prosecutor’s argument, barrister Julian Christopher KC stated Venables’s mindset had been one of ‘greed’, ‘entitlement’, and ‘intellectual superiority’.

It is important to state that the defendant has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing throughout the trial.
