HMRC fixes Scottish S tax code data uploading problem for PAYE employers

Following an IT problem with coding out for employers setting up the new Scottish S tax code, HMRC has now fixed the problem that stopped Scottish P9s appearing in third party software or the PAYE Desktop Viewer

However, it is stressing that all employers with Scottish S code taxpayers should download the data again to be on the safe side and to avoid any corrupted records.

On the service availability website, HMRC has confirmed that ‘even if you have previously downloaded the P9 data, please do so again to make sure that you have the correct codes for your employees. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused’.

HMRC has confirmed that the recovery action will result in the reissue of all P9s for schemes which contained any Scottish tax codes and which were accessed via the Data Provisioning Service (DPS).

The re-issue of the P9s will be complete by midday on Thursday 17 March 2016.

Employers will receive an email alert notifying them that a new P9 is available.
