HMRC online resources for tax agents

HMRC has added to its library of webinars and e-learning modules for tax agents, and has added more support for taxpayers about working in the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

The additional CIS help and support includes business emails on the CIS and a webinar and two YouTube videos about the CIS for contractors, looking at how the scheme works, taking on and paying subcontractors, and how to meet tax obligations.

There is also a webinar and two YouTube videos about the CIS for subcontractors, and in particular discussing how to join the scheme, what deductions will be made from payments and what records need to be kept.

For tax agents, HMRC has updated its web-based offering with   an online course on resolving disputes through reviews and appeals and  webinars providing an overview of property income, covering schemes like ‘rent a room’ and ‘furnished holiday lettings’, registration and record keeping;

There is also a webinar and YouTube video discussing penalties for inaccuracies in documents and returns and in particular when a penalty is chargeable, prompted and unprompted disclosures, reductions for quality of disclosures, penalty calculations, suspensions and appeals; and  a YouTube video explaining how agents can use HMRC’s agent toolkits.
