An independent Commission convened by the Premier League has found Manchester City Football Club breached the Premier League’s financial rules for nine seasons between 2009-10 and 2017-18.

The findings from the Premier League’s independent commission report are strongly denied by Manchester City Football Club and follow an eight-year long saga from the initial complaint in 2018 to the first independent hearing in December 2024.

The claim is that the club had created sham accounts, with the 40-page ruling stating Man City ‘filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators' between 2009 and 2018. In addition, the financial statements for the period ‘did not show a true and fair view of the club’s financial position’.
