HMRC relaunches agent dedicated phone line

The relaunch of the agent dedicated line (ADL) earlier this week has been accompanied by a pledge by HMRC that calls are expected to be answered in 10 minutes

HMRC has relaunched the ADL on a trial basis following discussions with professional bodies including the ICAEW and CIOT.

The line will be open from 8:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday and will link authorised agents with an experienced adviser at one of HMRC’s taxes contact centres in order to deal with taxpayer specific queries. The query will be transferred to a technician if necessary, to ensure the query is answered wherever possible during the call.

HMRC said: ‘We are trialling a prioritised support service (Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm on 0300 200 3311) from the 14 June 2021 and we expect calls to this line to be answered within 10 minutes.’

HMRC has asked for agents to spread their calls throughout the day, in order for the government department to manage the demand.
