HMRC survey on tax-free childcare

HMRC has added a series of surveys to the consultation on government plans to introduce a tax-free childcare scheme.

Further to their consultation document on the design and operation of Tax-Free Childcare issued on 5 August 2013, HMRC has included links to short surveys for both employers and childcare providers to their consultation documents.

Tax-Free Childcare will be introduced from autumn 2015 and will provide eligible families with 20% of their childcare costs up to £1,200 per child a year. It will, over time, replace the current Employer Supported Childcare scheme.

The employer questionnaire, which will take about five minutes to complete, is aimed at employers who provide childcare vouchers to their employees. The closing date for responses is 14 October.

The childcare provider questionnaire is a simpler way for childcare providers to offer feedback on some of the proposals for the Tax-Free Childcare scheme, rather than reading the full consultation document. This questionnaire should take about 15 minutes to complete and closes on 7 October 2013.
