International reporting: IFRS and climate change

With climate change top of the agenda, the IASB considers its impact on IFRS disclosures, plus the effects of changes to interbank offered rates on financial reporting and IFRS 17 implementation. Jeroen Van Doorsselaere, VP of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services explains

Shocked by the first subject to be explored in this month’s column? Certainly plenty of accountants thought the same thing when they heard the latest speech by Hans Hoogervoorst, president of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), which centered around climate change. In the speech, Hoogervorst warned that climate change does have an impact on applying the IASB’s standards. In fact, the Australian standard setters have even published a paper around this topic.
