More Women need to succeed as company directors, so why should the change be forced, asks Kathryn Britten.

Iam encouraged that the Financial Reporting Council supports the argument that diversity in the boardroom improves the quality of decision making, which is evidenced by the inclusion of supporting principle B.2 in the revised UK Corporate Governance Code: ‘The search for board candidates should be conducted, and appointments made, on merit, against objective criteria and with due regard for the benefits of diversity on the board, including gender.’
