KPMG has announced the appointment of David Burlison as global head of restructuring and Mark Firmin as UK head of restructuring.  Burlison replaces Philip Davidson, who has taken up a new role as KPMG international chief operating officer, while Firmin takes from Richard Fleming, who has led the team since 2008 alongside his primary role as KPMG’s UK head of advisory.

KPMG has also announced the promotion of 102 directors, taking the firm’s total number of directors to 871, a 13% increase from 2013. The largest number of promotions are in audit, where the firm has won a string of high profile tenders including Unilever and Royal Mail.  A third of the new directors are female, bringing the total number of  women up to around 25% of the group. 

Grant Thornton has appointed Tim Roff as partner and head of its actuarial and risk practice within its insurance sector line of business. Roff, who has more than 25 years of leading similar teams at partner level including spells at KPMG and EY, has in-depth technical expertise in related regulatory, compliance and financial reporting matters. 

Andrea Bishop is to take over from Graham Randall as the new lead partner at BDO Bristol. Bishop is an experienced audit partner who has been at the firm for 10 years after working at EY and the CBI. Randall will now focus on growing the firm’s insolvency and restructuring practice, having overseen a period of rapid growth for BDO in the south west which saw partner numbers trebling in the last 18 months and a doubling of the global outsourcing team.

Business advisory firm FTI Consulting has appointed Richard Baxter as a senior managing director and head of indirect taxation in the company's European tax advisory practice. Baxter joins from Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, where he served as head of the global indirect tax service line since 2009. Prior to this, he was at Deloitte's indirect tax technology and assurance practice.

Milsted Langdon has added several new members of staff to its team. David Bridge is a Bristol-based assistant manager specialising in all areas of insolvency. Andy Meyer has also joined the Bristol office where he carries out general practice work such as accounts, auditing and helping clients with their day to day business queries.

Shah Seehootoorah has joined the Bristol team as an audit and accounts senior, specialising in the audits of larger corporate clients, while Stephen Wilkinson has started there as an audit trainee. 

Rob Cadwallader has been appointed as a general practice manager in the firm’s Taunton office, and Terry Cheesman becomes tax manager.  

 Four people have been promoted to assistant managers and two to senior managers at PKF Cooper Parry. Lauren Walters, Marie Smith, Sarah Frampton and Emma Longmore have become assistant managers in their respective roles in the firm’s tax, wealth, HR and audit teams. Rachel Kitching is now a senior manager and Dawn Wilson a manager, in the wealth and facilities teams.

R&D tax relief specialist Jumpstart has appointed Kevin Dixon as sales and marketing director as it expands from its base in Scotland into the south-east and east of England. Dixon has over 30 years’ experience, including spells with a range of technology start-ups and with corporates including Logica, Siemens and Ericsson.
