Colin Blessley is to head up a new business turnaround service set up by Menzies Business Recovery, the insolvency division of Menzies. The new service, to be called mr3 turnaround, will focus on business rescue, restructuring and interim management advice, particularly for companies who may need to re-think their operations as the economy improves.
PKF Littlejohn has hired Simon Slater as its first non-executive director. Slater will be offering a fresh look at the firm's strategy for its expansion plans. He was previously managing director of Intelligent Office Consulting Services where he advised professional service firms on strategy, governance and management, and has also worked in leadership and management roles with firms including Taylor Wessing, Eversheds, Charles Russell and DTZ.
James Martin, a well known corporate recovery experts in the West Midlands, has joined national audit, tax and advisory firm Crowe Clark Whitehill as a partner running the Midlands arm of Crowe Clark Whitehill Recovery Solutions. He will head a team specialising in administrations, company voluntary arrangements, individual voluntary arrangements, liquidations, bankruptcies and advising businesses facing financial difficulties.
McBrides has promoted three senior managers to partner taking the total number of partners at the firm, based in Sidcup, from six to nine. All three are local: Mark Grady and Tanya Hamilton both joined the firm as trainees, while Andy Carey arrived from a smaller accountancy practice having built strong links with SME's in the area.
As part of ICAEW's commitment to sustainability, the institute says it has become the first professional body to join the Green Economy Coalition (GEC), which is a global network of organisations committed to accelerating the transition to a new green inclusive economy. ICAEW will contribute to GEC's thematic work on financial reform to drive the transition to a green economy, using natural capital accounting to support the management of natural systems and measuring what matters by aligning elements of progress towards a green economy.
