Lester has been with the Big Four firm for 20 years and has worked in the tax practice in London, the Midlands and New York. He was previously tax markets leader for the UK & Ireland, with overall responsibility for the tax markets agenda, including client service and business development.

Lester said: ‘This is a really exciting time to be leading our tax practice, particularly when the firm is growing significantly and has set out bold plans for the future. Key to our growth plans will be continuing to adapt to the evolving needs of our clients,’ he said.

UK chairman and UK&I managing partner, Steve Varley, said: ‘Having worked in both our London and regional markets, Jason brings a broad perspective to the role which will be critical in driving our growth plans. He has made his name as one of our strongest partners in the market and, having worked with EY outside of the UK, has developed a strong appreciation of the strength of our global firm.’

Dixon was managing partner for UK & Ireland with responsibility for tax. EY did not disclose whether he had retired.
