Perhaps not surprisingly there has been considerable interest in the recent tribunal of Wildin v HMRC [2014] UKFTT 459 (TC), concerning the valuation of goodwill in an accountancy practice and the issues this involves.

There are an increasing number of situations for which some form of valuation is necessary and in particular there has sadly been a marked rise in the number of cases concerning matrimonial disputes.
