Cricket’s future is under
threat, but the game doesn’t have to be caught out by failing

On 25 November, after Accountancy went to press, the English
and Australian cricket teams will have taken to the field in Brisbane
on the first day of the first Test of a much-anticipated Ashes series.
The Gold Coast sun will have shone on packed stands, and around the
globe millions will have watched intently as Australian captain Ricky
Ponting and his baggy greens embarked on their quest to wrest the
famous urn from Andrew Strauss and his England teammates.
