The recent Treasury publication on Making Tax Digital reminds me of Lord Kitchener’s poster from 1914 calling for public support, though the association with war does stop there as we are not fighting HMRC we only want them to listen and take note.

But there is a feel of the Blitz spirit, in first Andrew Tyrie MP, chairman, Treasury Committee writing to David Gauke MP, chief secretary to the Treasury, and now the Treasury Committee publishing their report on Making Tax Digital, as they all add weight to the concerns of the profession and businesses on the impact on the economy when HMRC make digital engagement mandatory for even the smallest businesses from April 2018.
