League One football club Oldham Athletic are facing a winding up petition brought by HMRC but insist that the issue has been resolved ahead of a legal hearing due today
In a statement on its website the club, which finished the season in 17th place, said: ‘We are aware of the winding up petition brought by HMRC scheduled for Monday, June 20 and our legal advisors are dealing with it.
‘The liability on which the petition is based was paid in full last month.’
Last December the club had difficulty in paying their players, who were paid late for three months. The club is currently looking for a new manager, after previous manager John Sheridan left to take over League Two contenders Notts County.
