Online fashion retailer falls into administration

SilkFred, an online marketplace which partnered with over 500 independent fashion brands including Apricot and Goddiva has collapsed into administration

Launched in 2011, the company supported and promoted independent labels. At the time of administration, it had two million customers worldwide, having partnered with 600 brands.

Now administrators, Quantuma, said the company does not have enough money to be able to continue trading and that the majority of staff have now been made redundant.

They also said that SilkFred does not have money to repay customers who are owed refunds, and if consumers purchased items over £100, they should ask for money back under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

In the days before administration was announced, disgruntled customers took to social media to ask why the company’s website was down, and why they couldn’t use the website to order replacements or refunds.
