George & Co has two directors and five employees with reported fee income in excess of £600,000. Following the acquisition, the firm will continue to trade under its current name from the existing office in Edinburgh.

Opulus is backed by private equity firm SME Capital, which provided a £10m growth capital facility to support further expansion plans of the enlarged group.

The firm is a joint venture formed between founder Matthew Garstang and investment and advisory partnership N4 Partners to provide a range of business services to help SMEs grow. It will shortly be rolling out legal, HR and IT offerings to complement its existing business service lines throughout Scotland.
