Bishop Fleming has appointed two tax partners to its Cheltenham office, bolstering the firm’s private client offering. Iona Martin, previously tax director and head of private banking tax at KPMG, has over 25 years’ private client advisory experience, most recently supporting financial services clients in the wealth sector with tax reporting, tax remediation and tax risk management. Zoe Martin, a private client taxation specialist with over 25 years’ experience in private practice, joins as a tax partner from RSM. She brings a wealth of knowledge working with high net worth individuals, owner managed businesses and trusts, with a focus on capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning.

Menzies LLP has appointed six partners as part of its ongoing growth plans, with five promoted internally and one external hire. The promotions include Helen Cuthbert, a private client specialist, and four audit and compliance specialists, Andrew Galliers,  Robert Kruppa, Charlotte Langdon, and Andrew Wooding. Meantime Hezelina Hashim has joined from BDO as an audit and assurance partner at the Heathrow office.

Evelyn Partners has appointed Emma Queen as a business tax partner to help support the continued expansion of its Cambridge office providing a range of assurance, corporate finance, business and personal tax services to mid-market clients across East Anglia. Previously she was a director of private business at PwC, where she worked with business owners and entrepreneurs.

PKF Francis Clark has promoted nine directors across a variety of departments, including audit and assurance specialists Rachael Pepler, Ben Slater and Tracy Lewis. Also promoted are Jackie Brooks and Richard Owen (business advisory), Chris Bishop (corporate finance) and Laura Howson (private client tax), as are Phil Ball, head of leadership development, and Toby Lott, head of people management and development in the people team.

BTG Advisory has appointed Felix Connolly as a partner in its advisory team in the deals practice, which covers special situations M&A, lead advisory M&A, debt advisory and director advisory. He brings 20 years of experience, most recently at private equity firm Endless LLP, where he led the development of its SME investment fund, Enact, in London and the south, with a focus on deal origination, marketing and deal execution.

PKF Smith Cooper has promoted Selma Delic to partner from her role as operations director and head of the non-client facing elements of the business. She also had an active role in the PKF Global Network. Delic joined the Midlands based firm as a graduate in 2012 set up the marketing department, growing it into a seven-strong team.

Clear Treasury has appointed experienced chief financial officer Tim Kidd as a non-executive director at the international payments specialists to support and advise on growth plans. Previously he spent six years as CFO of fintech Alpha Group, after 16 years at FTSE 100 ICAP plc, where he was CFO, London and EMEA.

Markel Tax has promoted Lyn Comerford to divisional director – tax, having joined the firm as head of strategy in 2019.  She previously worked at Merrill Lynch, the World Bank and McKinsey & Company, and has a BEng from Imperial College and an MBA from Wharton. 

The Institute of Directors has appointed John Browett as the chair of the board after a comprehensive search process. He is current chair of Octopus Group and fraud prevention organisation Cifas, and holds a number of other non-executive positions. Browett takes over from Patrick Macdonald, whose three-year term ended on 3 July.
