Blick Rothenberg has appointed Rehana Earle and Matt Crawford as partners in its growing global mobility team. Crawford, who has led PwC’s employment tax team for the last few years, will focus on employment taxes and tax investigations, while Earle has primarily focused on technology, most recently as a global mobility director at Vialto Partners, and previously as a director at PwC. In a further round of five partner promotions, Mark Cunningham who specialises in audit, UK financial reporting and advisory services has been made an audit partner. Michael Holland and Ross Annand have been made partners in the US/UK private client team. Bal Lota has been made a partner in the global mobility team, while Chris Gillman becomes a partner in the trust & estates team. Tessa Jones has been appointed as money laundering reporting officer and holds FCA regulatory roles relating to compliance, oversight and insurance compliance.

SRLV has appointed its 20th partner after promoting music & entertainment director, Tina Sunderland. The chartered accountant and tax advisor joined SRLV as a manager in 2013 from Deloitte, where she worked in the creative talent division. She has played a pivotal role in the growth of SRLV’s creative division and manages an extensive portfolio of high profile music artists, songwriters, managers and independent record labels, actors, fashion designers and sports professionals. As partner, Sunderland will continue running part of SRLV’s music & entertainment team, providing clients with accounting, VAT, tax and day-to-day business management support.

McBrides Chartered Accountants has named Tanya Hamilton as managing partner as Nick Paterno steps down from the role after 13 years at the helm. The changes come as the firm celebrates its 50th anniversary. Hamilton will become only the third managing partner in the firm’s history. Paterno will step back from management responsibilities and concentrate on advising his client portfolio and business development. A home-grown talent, Hamilton joined the Sidcup-headquartered firm as a graduate 28 years ago qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1998. She was made partner in 2014 and worked alongside Paterno developing a specialism advising clients in the professional services sector.

PwC UK has promoted Claire Fox as UK transport and logistics sector lead for the Big Four firm. She focuses on supporting clients with transformation and turnaround performance improvement initiatives which can be operational, strategic and financial in nature. Fox also remains a PwC partner in value creation & realisation. With over 20 years’ experience Fox has worked across a variety of sectors including retail, FMCG, public sector, construction and infrastructure. She is an accredited member of the IFT (Institute for Turnaround) and holds a diploma in management consultancy.

Mercer & Hole has hired Mandy Bagot as outsourcing director having previously worked at Silver Levene and Grunberg & Co. Bagot has over 30 years of experience working in accountancy practices and also in industry. She is particularly passionate about cloud-based working and is adept at explaining complex matters without the jargon. She enjoys learning about her clients’ businesses so that she can suggest ways to make their lives easier with thorough financial information while keeping up to date with the latest technology and developments.

Grunberg & Co has promoted one of its audit specialists Herman Hang to partner to oversee the development of the audit practice and continue with his role as a mentor to up-and-coming leaders in this area. He originally joined the practice in 2016 as an audit and account senior and quickly became involved in and began to lead some of the practice’s largest and most complex audits. As a partner, Hang intends to develop and grow his portfolio of clients and continue to play a role in the development of staff. 

Cowgills has promoted Jane Rash to partner in its rapidly growing deal advisory team, heading up strategic support. She joined the firm as a newly qualified accountant in 2001 before moving into deal advisory in 2002.  She was promoted to manager in 2008 and director in 2015. Under her leadership the strategic support services team provides clients with guidance, support and advice pre, during and post transaction to achieve the best value and outcome, delivering strategy workshops, financial forecasts and company valuations.

EY has promoted Silvia Rindone to UK&I managing partner for strategy and transactions, along with 46 partner appointments to the business unit. The appointments continue EY’s investment in the strategy and transactions practice, following three years of strong growth. Rindone joined EY in 2019 and was previously UK&I strategy and transactions markets leader and head of retail. She has worked with leading consumer product and retail companies across the globe over the past 20 years, and will continue working with clients in the consumer products and retail sector in addition to her new role. Rindone succeeds Steve Ivermee who led the service line for seven years. He will continue his role as a partner within EY’s private equity practice.

Menzies LLP has promoted Rachel Lai, a business recovery specialist based at the Cardiff office, and Phil Wright, a specialist in outsourcing services based at the Solent office, to partners. A licensed insolvency practitioner, Lai joined Menzies LLP in 2015, when the firm merged with another practice where she had trained. As well as acting as an office holder in formal insolvency proceedings, she also leads Menzies LLP’s contentious insolvency team. Wright joined Menzies LLP in 2006 from university, and started out in the accounts and audit team. He helped to establish Menzies Outsourced Finance Director (FD) service, which is now a core part of the firm’s outsourcing offering.  In his current role, he works closely with SMEs, advising them on all aspects of financial management, reporting, and business planning.

haysmacintyre has appointed Paul Atkins as a partner in the property team. Having qualified as a chartered tax accountant, Atkins brings over 25 years’ experience of working with a diverse range of clients, with a particular focus on housebuilding and construction firms. He joins the firm from the Vistry Group, where he was group tax director, prior to which he held management positions at easyJet and KPMG. In his new role he will lead the property team’s tax growth strategy. His appointment marks the next stage in haysmacintyre’s growth plan and its commitment to investing in its people and talent, as the fifth appointment to the partnership this year.

Grant Thornton UK LLP has appointed Kevin Martin as partner to lead the firm’s indirect tax financial services advisory practice. Over the last decade, Martin worked at EY, most recently as a director, focusing on advising financial services clients on complex indirect tax issues such as Brexit restructuring, disposals and acquisitions, HMRC disputes, cross border transactions and relocation/market entry complexities.

Quantuma has appointed restructuring expert, Craig Morrison as a managing director in its Scottish practice. He will be based from Quantuma’s new premises in Edinburgh which is the firm’s second Scottish office and 18th in the UK. Morrison joins Quantuma from FRP Advisory where has was a director for nine years, prior to which he was a director in the restructuring and recovery division of RSM Tenon. His experience includes the undertaking of independent business reviews on behalf of a range of lenders, as well advisory engagements. He is primarily focused on formal corporate insolvency assignments. Most recently he was involved in the administrations of a large grain supplier and a cinema group.

Hentons has hired Richard Munoz as director and head of SME, based in Sheffield. With 28 years’ experience in accountancy and taxation matters, Munoz brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for serving clients to his new role. His extensive background includes training in local firms across Sheffield and West Yorkshire, and he has a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges faced by businesses operating in various sectors.

PKF Littlejohn has hired Brendan Clarkson as a director in the advisory team, working across the London, Leeds and Manchester offices. His role will involve providing debt advice to businesses, helping them to secure funding from a wide range of lenders. He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate lending and insolvency, working with businesses of all sizes, lenders, creditors and government bodies. Previously he was a director, national credit services at Begbies Traynor and a director at Azzurro Associates. Clarkson hosts regular seminars on credit, debt and working capital, and sits on the advisory board of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management.

Wylie & Bisset has announced a raft of promotions across the firm. In the audit team, Sandy Hogg and Rory McCall have been promoted to associate director. Hogg works with a range of clients across the SME, charity, and education sectors while McCall manages a portfolio of clients across the charities sector, and deals with a wide range of commercial, education and housing association clients. In the insolvency department, Paul McDougall becomes associate partner, Craig Allison, associate director, Cameron Andrew, senior administrator, and Stacey Kelly, administrator. Gavin Brown has been promoted to senior manager in the tax department.

Prime Accountants Group has promoted Paislei Godley to the position of senior tax manager, having worked at the firm for 22 years. She joined the firm in November 2001 as an office junior and has worked across numerous departments in eight different roles, during which time she discovered her passion for tax accounting. Godley began her training soon after, starting as a tax secretary, passing her Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) exams in 2011, followed by the CTA qualification in 2013. The firm has offices in Solihull, Coventry and Birmingham.

PKF Smith Cooper has promoted 16 rising stars, the largest cohort in a single promotion window. The promotions cover all divisions and locations, including Derby, Nottingham and Birmingham. There are eight promotions in the audit team with Callum Jones made senior manager, Rebecca Hawkins and Charlotte Martinazzoli as managers, and assistant manager positions for Tom Ainsworth, Georgie Atherton, Adam Glossop, Chloe Goodall and Danielle Tracey. Emily Oliver is promoted to director and Kieran Marshall to manager in business recovery & insolvency, Josh Gurton as assistant manager in corporate finance and Robert O’Neill as assistant manager, tax. In the private client team, Chelsi Thomas is made assistant manager, while there are two manager promotions in the VAT and indirect taxes team, Tony Chamberlain and Chris Cutting. Charlotte Smith is promoted to marketing manager.

Simmons Gainsford has expanded the tax investigations team with the appointment of two external hires, Ali Hussain and Ian Cox as tax investigations assistants. Hussain was formerly at HMRC where he dealt with COP 8 and COP 9 investigations and then spent time with the Covid-19 taskforce dealing with CJRS claims. Cox has over 10 years of experience in tax dispute resolution and is a specialist in resolving high profile and complex enquiries at HMRC and in practice. Since leaving HMRC, he worked for a small practice as a tax manager.

ICAEW has appointed Will Holt as managing director, education and training, replacing Hazel Garvey who left the institute at the end of June. He will oversee ICAEW’s student offering, including the ACA qualification, routes into the profession, and talent and diversity. He qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in 2006 and was the founding dean of the Business School at Pearson College London. More recently, he founded a technology business, theaudition.io, focused on supporting inclusivity through recruitment.
