BDO has strengthened its tax team with the appointment of Al Milne as a partner in the Manchester office having spent almost 20 years in the accounting profession. He will join the share plans and incentives (SP&I) tax team and will be responsible for designing and implementing incentive strategies supporting the business goals of his mid-market clients. Milne will also be responsible for growing the SP&I service line across the north west. He joins from Claritas Tax where he was head of equity reward, and prior to that spent 10 years at KPMG.   

Blick Rothenberg has made three appointments in the global mobility team, Elisa Sofocli as a global mobility partner, Neil Morrison as a director to lead the reward and incentives practice and Aliona Le Khak as a global mobility director specialising in Japanese clients. Sofocli brings over 20 years’ experience advising organisations and individuals on tax, immigration, payroll and employment issues related to international mobility. Previously she was a director at Vialto Partners, and prior spent nearly 18 years at PwC, latterly as a director. Morrison has over 10 years of experience as a specialist in share-based incentives, and previously was a senior manager at PwC working on all aspects of executive compensation. He will be responsible for expanding the service offering on implementation of commercially effective and tax efficient incentive plans. S&W has appointed Imran Khan as a partner in its business tax practice. He brings extensive experience advising businesses across the UK and internationally on transfer pricing and international tax matters. Khan has developed particular expertise in advising mid‑market businesses, including privately owned and private equity‑backed companies, and works closely with clients to align tax strategy with their broader business objectives. Previously he was a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal.

FRP Advisory has appointed Emma Thompson as a partner specialising in restructuring and recovery. She brings over 20 years’ insolvency expertise, advising businesses, lenders, creditors and stakeholders on complex insolvency and recovery matters. She began her career in banking, before moving into insolvency and qualifying as both an accountant and insolvency practitioner. In her new role, Thompson will focus on growing the contentious insolvency offering, with a particular emphasis on cross-border asset recovery, misconduct/negligence, and global enforcement. Previously she was a director at Alvarez & Marsal.

RMT Accountants, part of Sumer Group, has appointed Manjit Shokar as head of recovery and insolvency for London and the south, based in the firm’s new Cavendish Square office in central London. Shokar brings almost 25 years’ professional services sector experience to his new role and is a licensed insolvency practitioner. He began his career in the office of the Official Receiver and joins the firm from Begbies Traynor Group, now BTG, where he was a licensed insolvency practitioner.

Redcentric has appointed Tim Sykes as chief financial officer and executive director at the IT managed services provider. He brings over 30 years of financial experience, including 15 years as CFO of AIM listed Proactis Holdings plc. He has varied operational, transactional, and strategic experience and has driven significant growth, both organically and via M&A. Most recently, Sykes was CEO of Proactis and led the company through a successful take private transaction, then subsequently joined Aptamer Group as a non-executive director and also maintained a fractional CFO portfolio supporting high growth ventures. He originally trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG.

R3 has appointed Monica Kapur as chair for the Midlands region, succeeding Stephen Rome and is the first woman to hold the role. Kapur is a solicitor and director at Isadore Goldman and will represent the interests of the region’s restructuring, turnaround and insolvency professionals both locally and nationally, while supporting R3’s programme of events and member engagement activity. Birmingham based Kapur has 19 years’ experience on contentious matters and in recent years has developed a bespoke service for IPs in cases concerning construction insolvency leading to the launch of IG Construct.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has elected Alfred Ramosedi as the 93rd president to lead the organisation worldwide, and Dr Matthew Hansard as deputy president. Ramosedi will also serve as the co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), the global alliance formed by CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). During his presidential year, Ramosedi will focus on shaping the future of finance and accounting, increasing trust levels, building an AI-enabled profession, as well as and championing opportunity for the next generation of talent. He is a leading business figure with over three decades of experience across South Africa’s financial and professional services sector, and is currently CEO of Bayport Financial Services.
