PKF Littlejohn has made five partner promotions with Nick Joel in capital markets, Will Lanyon and Benny Wong in financial services, and Mimi Chan and Tom Golding in corporate tax. Joel joined the firm in 2013 and has worked on some of PKF’s largest and more complex audits for listed clients. Lanyon joined PKF as a graduate in 2012 and is an important part of the firm’s financial services transaction support team. Wong becomes an audit partner, financial services, and has developed PKF’s funds business after joining the firm in 2020 after a stint at BDO and training at Deloitte. Chan has been with the firm since 2007 and has a strong technical background and expertise in tax compliance. Golding has been with PKF since 2016 and is a corporate tax advisory specialist.

HWB has hired eight new starters at the with a mix of graduates and placement students covering activities such as accounts and audit, payroll, tax and marketing. The Southampton-based firm has appointed two accounts seniors, Adrian Latoszewski and Norain Umair. It has also hired trainee accountants Jack Somerton, Richard Knight, Cohan Lewis and Izzy Borisova; payroll placement students Dalbir Bhullar and Aaron Hatter; accounts placement student OIivia Ridout; and marketing and administration assistant Sophie Taylor.

Gateley Capitus, the property and tax incentives consultancy, has appointed Steven Chi as a senior capital allowances consultant, Sam Allen as a capital allowances consultant and Flavio Ferri as a junior capital allowances consultant based in London. Chi has a real estate background and will support clients with capital allowances for property portfolios including purchases, sales and capital expenditure reviews. Alongside client work, he will also assist with the development of junior talent. Allen will focus on clients with commercial properties or large residential properties used for commercial purposes. Ferri will advise clients on their eligibility for capital allowances, as well as supporting them throughout the claim process. 

Magma Chartered Accountants has made five promotions across the Rugby and Leicester offices. In audit, Luke Edwards is promoted to associate director, Kaylee McCarthy to senior manager and Laura Vincent to assistant manager. In the business services team Emma Steptoe has been promoted to senior manager, and Chris Matthews to senior manager in the corporate finance team.

Robb Ferguson, the Glasgow based firm of chartered accountants, has taken on a record number of university graduates. The firm has recruited a total of five ICAS trainees as it identifies new opportunities and builds on a series of significant business wins over the course of the year.

Haines Watts has made a number of appointments and promotions across their offices in the north and Scotland. The firm has made 38 new appointments this financial year, nine of which are graduates and school leavers. The new starters join across a number of specialist service lines including audit, accounts, tax incentives and reliefs, corporation tax and VAT.

Hawsons Accountants has appointed Bient Singh as audit director in its Doncaster office and a range of experience providing audit and accounting services to clients. He joins from a local accounting firm where he was associate director. The firm is also strengthening the team with three further hires of Jeanette Roney as accounts senior, Chris O’Regan as accounts assistant and Jed Wilkinson as an audit and accounts semi senior.

Moynan Smith has appointed Richard Moffatt as a chartered accountant and Abbie Hethering as payroll adviser at the Carlisle-based firm.

IRIS Software Group has appointed Mark Chambers as managing director for accountancy, with a focus on the adoption and support for accountancy cloud platform, IRIS Elements. He will use his extensive digital transformation and software-as-a-service (SaaS) experience to help customers develop IRIS Elements capabilities and explore advisory opportunities. Chambers joins from B2B software provider Aptean where he was vice president of international sales.

The UK Endorsement Board (UKEB) has appointed Michelle O’Mara as a member of the Preparer Advisory Group (PAG). O’Mara is head of external reporting at PZ Cussons plc, where her responsibilities include the group’s external reporting and accounting policies. The PAG provides relevant and timely context and evidence on UKEB projects to support the board in its decision-making.
