PwC has appointed Craig Hughes as global real estate leader, effective from 1 July. Hughes succeeds Kees Hage who was in the role for eight years and will now continue to be a key member within the real estate business. Hughes has led PwC’s UK real estate and global sovereign wealth fund real estate practice for over three years and also leads two diversity and inclusion networks - the carers network and the parents network.

Andrew Bulley has joined Deloitte as partner in the EMEA centre for regulatory strategy. Bulley comes from the Bank of England and is a voting member of the board of supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). Recently, he played a key role in the Prudential Regulation Authority’s roll-out of solvency II to the life insurance industry.

ICAEW has named only its second female president with the unveiling of Hilary Lindsay as president for 2016/17. She will lead ICAEW until June 2017, when she will hand over to deputy president, Nick Parker. Lindsay was president of the AAT in 2011-12 and has been an ICAEW council member for over a decade.

Stephen Newman has been appointed as Smith Cooper’s audit partner in the Birmingham office. He is an experienced audit and advisory partner, having worked with owner managed businesses for over 20 years across a range of sectors.

Kitty McCormick, who is director of lending and capital management at Coutts, has been presented with the women in the city future leaders award. She has received a trophy and a complimentary place on ICAEW’s women in leadership programme.

Mazars has appointed Gary Collins as tax partner. He will be responsible for the tax offering across the East Midlands and will be based out of both the firm’s Leicester and Nottingham offices. Collins retired a year ago and has previously been a partner at KPMG.

Accountant, Bobby Gupta, at firm Murphy Salisbury has been appointed financial director of Warwickshire cricket board. He has more than three decades of experience in financial and tax affairs and has a personal passion for the sport.

McLintocks Chartered Accountants has appointed Karl Rosedale as director at their Chester office. He has expertise in the sports and entertainment industry having provided advice to an array of high net-worth individuals including professional footballers and their agents.

Chris Wales, ex PwC head of the global tax and governance team, and a former member of the UK Treasury’s council of economic advisers under Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, has left PwC to set up a new network of experienced policy-makers that will provide specialist advice to governments around the world on tax, budget, governance and transparency issues. The new venture, set to launch this autumn, will focus on these areas and on the development of stronger budgetary frameworks and processes within central and local government.
