Career news this week includes a new banking partner at PwC, BDO gains regional lead partner, OECD appoints tax head, senior tax manager at Hawsons, three lawyers join Carey Olsen, PKF Littlejohn gains a tax partner

PwC legal has appointed banking partner Laetitia Costa as head of the banking and finance team in London. Costa has previously worked for Milbank, Tweed and Hadley&McCloy LLP where she was a partner in the leveraged finance group. She has over 15 years' experiences in leveraged finance, real estate and debt restructuring transactions advising arrangers, funds, private equity firms and corporations.

BDO LLP has announced Ed Dwan as new lead partner for the North West. Dwan has been at the firm for eight years on the national tax risk consultancy team and will now oversee the Manchester and Liverpool offices.

Jefferson VanderWolk has been appointed as head of tax treaty, transfer pricing and financial transactions in the centre for tax policy and administration for OECD. He will begin in July 2016 and has previously been executive director at Ernst and Young in Washington and international tax counsel to the US Senate Finance Committee.

Hawsons Chartered Accountants has announced Craig Walker as senior tax manager. He has previously worked for two firms of chartered accountants, including a national top 20 accounting firm.

Lawyers Matt Brehaut, Angela Wood and Arya Hashemi have joined Carey Olsen’s corporate practice advising on investment funds, private equity and acquisitions. The total number of lawyers across the seven offices now totals 104. Brehaut joins the London office as senior associate, Wood is also in the London office as an associate and Hashemi will be in the Guernsey office as an associate.

Nick McChesney joins PFK Littlejohn as a VAT partner bringing the total number of tax partners to seven. McChesney is a tax expert who has 26 years of experience and has worked for the likes of working for PwC.

Chicago-based US firm, Baker Tilly, has announced Alan Whitman as chairman and CEO after he served a period as CEO-elect. He has worked at Baker Tilly for over a decade. Outgoing chairman and CEO Tim Christen will continue his responsibilities as chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and with various Baker Tilly and Baker Tilly International committees.
